Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PIDs) Subspecialty Faculty

Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), Central Texas Division is seeking a full-time/part-time BC/BE, fellowship-trained Pediatric Infectious Diseases subspecialist who enjoys clinical and teaching roles to join two full-time Board Certified Pediatric Infectious Diseases Subspecialists in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Division of Subspecialty Pediatrics of the Department of Pediatrics. The department has an outstanding Pediatric Residency program and fellowships in Neonatology and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

The Pediatric ID subspecialist will primarily provide direct consultation and follow-up care in inpatient and outpatient settings, including outreach telemedicine clinics/consults, and will teach residents, fellows, and medical students in our family-friendly Central Texas Hill Country area.

Current Pediatric ID subspecialists are involved in patient care, teaching, clinical vaccinology research, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and administration. Candidates can choose a full/part-time clinical and teaching position or a combination with part-time research at the BSWH Center for Research in Vaccines and Infections.

Position Details

1. Location at BSW McLane Children’s Medical Center, a 112-bed facility with a 24-hour Children's ED and trauma center, 48 private medical/surgical rooms, a 16-bed PICU, a 48-bed NICU, and a Pediatric Multi-specialty Clinic in Temple, TX. The level IV NICU is approximately 5 minutes away on the main campus.
2. Join a PIDs consulting service with one FT BC Pedi ID subspecialist serving as a clinician-teacher and antimicrobial stewardship director, and a section chief serving as CRVI director and principal investigator.
3. Expected clinical service coverage is 24/7, with up to 2.05 FTE covering inpatient floors, PICU, NICU, outpatient services, and shared PIDs task pager duties.
4. Shared weekend inpatient/ED service coverage is approximately 17-18 weekends per year.
5. Involvement in education of residents, fellows, medical students, pharmacists, nursing, and extenders through bedside teaching, lectures, journal clubs, rounds, and grand rounds.
6. Position can include clinical practice, teaching, research, and service on committees. Employment is through Baylor College of Medicine - Temple Campus.

Qualifications
