Job description

Turn pediatric critical care leadership into a career-defining adventure as the PICU Nurse Manager at a respected children's hospital where clinical excellence, compassionate care, and big opportunities come together!

The PICU Nurse Manager will join a mission-driven, patient-first healthcare organization recognized throughout its service area for delivering specialized pediatric care, promoting clinical safety, and supporting children and families through complex health challenges. This hospital offers high-acuity clinical exposure, modern monitoring and treatment technology, evidence-based nursing resources, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a culture focused on quality improvement and positive patient outcomes. With strong community support, ongoing investments in pediatric services, professional education, clinician wellbeing, and leadership development, the Pediatric ICU Manager will have meaningful opportunities to advance nursing practice and influence the future of pediatric healthcare.

The PICU Nurse Manager will lead a dynamic Pediatric Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical and surgical needs. The Pediatric ICU Manager will help foster safe staffing, clinical competency, family-centered care, regulatory readiness, evidence-based practice, and continuous performance improvement within this high-acuity critical care environment. Beyond the hospital, this opportunity offers access to the Great Smoky Mountains, the home of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and affordable housing and living.

Reporting to senior nursing leadership, the PICU Nurse Manager will receive administrative guidance, operational resources, and collaborative support while overseeing daily operations, staffing, budgeting, quality initiatives, employee engagement, and strategic growth for pediatric critical care services. The Pediatric ICU Manager will work alongside friendly nurses and a diverse team of physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, case managers, rehabilitation professionals, educators, and support staff. This visible leader will mentor team members, strengthen interdisciplinary relationships, encourage shared decision-making, and cultivate an inclusive environment grounded in accountability, respect, and compassionate care.

The PICU Nurse Manager will enjoy life in East Tennessee, a welcoming region known for mountain scenery, four-season recreation, and a comfortable pace of life. Residents can hike, camp, kayak, cycle, and explore nearby national parks while also enjoying college athletics, live concerts, local festivals, arts venues, farmers markets, and a growing food scene featuring Southern favorites and contemporary cuisine. The Pediatric ICU Manager will also appreciate the region's affordable cost of living, varied housing options, family-friendly communities, respected schools and higher education, manageable commutes, expanding job market, convenient everyday amenities, abundant parks, and access to regional air travel.

The PICU Nurse Manager will receive competitive compensation along with a full suite of health and retirement benefits designed to support long-term professional and personal wellbeing. Additional offerings may include paid time off, education resources, leadership development, and other valuable employee programs.
