Position Summary

Posting Note: Pediatric Hospitalist – Thomas Campus & East Valley

Phoenix Children’s and the Division of Hospital Medicine are expanding—and inviting pediatric hospitalists to join our growing team. We welcome physicians interested in careers in academic hospital medicine, community hospital medicine, or opportunities that combine both.

Our Division includes more than 80 faculty across four sites, with diverse interests in clinical care, patient safety, medical education, quality improvement, research, and leadership. We are currently recruiting hospitalists for Phoenix Children’s – Thomas Campus and Phoenix Children’s – East Valley, with opportunities for hybrid hospitalist roles that include both day and night shifts, and dedicated nocturnist positions.

Generous Night-Shift Compensation

All physicians who work nights receive a generous additional night-shift stipend. Whether nights are incorporated into a hybrid schedule or are part of a dedicated nocturnist role, physicians receive additional compensation for every night worked. Physicians in the nocturnist role are also eligible for a competitive hours differential.

Phoenix Children’s – Thomas Campus

Phoenix Children’s – Thomas Campus is a freestanding children’s hospital with a Level I Trauma Center and comprehensive pediatric subspecialty services. Hospitalists have numerous opportunities to participate in patient safety, research, quality improvement, medical education, and program development. Our academic environment includes an established ACGME-accredited two-year Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship, with six fellows, as well as a major role in the education of Phoenix Children’s large pediatric residency program. Faculty hold academic appointments at the University of Arizona, Creighton University, and Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

Phoenix Children’s – East Valley

Phoenix Children’s – East Valley is a new freestanding Women & Children’s center in Gilbert, scheduled to open in early 2027. The site will include a 24-bed pediatric unit, PICU, Level 3 NICU, Pediatric Emergency Department, comprehensive subspecialty support, and 24/7 in-house coverage by hospitalists and intensive care providers. Physicians may choose to work exclusively in the pediatric unit or exclusively on the newborn service, if desired. Newborn care will be provided in partnership with Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, with no delivery attendance or NICU coverage required. The East Valley site will also offer teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and hospitalist fellows, making it an exciting opportunity for physicians interested in a community-based practice with strong academic connections.

Join a Growing Division

We are seeking committed clinicians, leaders, scholars, and educators to join our dynamic Division of Hospital Medicine. With multiple clinical sites and a broad range of academic and leadership activities, there are excellent opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
