Job summary

Gallin Associates seeks a Pediatric Hospitalist to join our inpatient pediatric service in Mattoon, Illinois. The role features a ~5-on / 10-off block schedule with flexible inpatient and call rotations.

You will provide comprehensive coverage for pediatric inpatients, round on newborns, and support Level II neonatology services. Responsibilities include managing admissions, attending high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation as needed, and coordinating transfers to tertiary centers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO).
• Completed an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for licensure prior to start).
• Mandatory certifications: NRP, DEA registration, CSR, and PALS.
• Strong comfort with neonatology and Level II nursery protocols; available for a January 2027 start.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient medical management for pediatric admissions, nursery care, and Level II neonatology patients.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitations as required by hospital protocols.
• Provide pediatric consultations for the Emergency Department and surgical service lines.
• Stabilize acutely ill pediatric and neonatal patients and coordinate transfers to tertiary centers.
• Perform daily inpatient rounds, manage admissions/discharges, and ensure proper handoffs.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality and safety initiatives.

An established, physician-led healthcare organization in Central Illinois is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join its dedicated inpatient pediatric service line in Mattoon, Illinois.

This position features an exceptional lifestyle schedule (~5-on / 10-off block model) and delivers high-quality inpatient pediatric care within a supportive community setting. You will provide comprehensive clinical coverage for pediatric inpatients, round on well newborns, and support neonatology services for Level II nursery care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct inpatient medical management for pediatric admissions, nursery care, and Level II neonatology patients


• Conduct routine newborn examinations and manage specialized care for infants requiring neonatology support


• Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitations as required by hospital and clinical protocols


• Provide pediatric consultations for the Emergency Department and surgical service lines


• Stabilize acute or critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients, coordinating transfers to tertiary pediatric medical centers when appropriate


• Perform daily inpatient rounds, manage admissions and discharges, and ensure clear handoffs to outpatient primary care pediatricians


• Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation and participate in clinical quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO)


• Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine


• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure prior to start)


• Mandatory Certifications: Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required; active DEA registration, Illinois Controlled Substance License (CSR), and PALS


• Strong clinical comfort level with neonatology, Level II nursery protocols, and attending high-risk deliveries


• Available for a January 2027 start date
