A healthcare organization in Kentucky is seeking a Pediatric Home Care Registered Nurse (RN) to provide essential palliative nursing care and support to pediatric patients and their families. This role involves assessing patients' needs and ensuring the management of their pain and symptoms. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in pediatrics or hospice, a valid RN license in Ohio, and a passion for providing compassionate care. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
  • Provide intermittent skilled nursing services to the patient under the physician’s directions.
  • Monitor and evaluate pain and symptoms, assisting patient and family.
  • Liaise with physicians; relay information about patient needs.
  • Provide emotional support to patient and family.
  • Refer and follow up with other services when appropriate.
  • Provide health teaching to patient and family for home care.

Skills

Pediatric Home Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Join our family! Provide palliative nursing care and support to pediatric patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Assess physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
  • Provide intermittent skilled nursing services to the patient under the patient’s physician’s directions.
  • Monitor and evaluate pain and symptoms and provide information and assistance to the patient and family to manage those problems.
  • Serve as liaison to the patient’s physician(s) when needed; provide information to the physician based on knowledge relating to the patient’s needs.
  • Provide emotional support to the patient and family.
  • Refer and follow up patients and/or family members to other services when appropriate.
  • Provide instruction (health teaching) to the patient and family as related to home care.
  • Maintain and promptly complete all necessary plan and reports related to home care.
  • Participate in care conferences and bereavement meetings.
  • Participate in public relations activities when necessary.
  • Participate in audit review, quality assurance activities and other meetings as assigned.
  • Plan and supervise activities of HHA as related to patient care.
Success Capabilities
  • Licensed RN in the State of Ohio.
  • BS or equivalent experience.
  • 3‑5 years of experience in pediatrics, or hospice with the desire to transfer into pediatrics.
  • Experience preferred in pain and symptom management, oncology, public health, mental health.
  • Experience in pediatrics and knowledge regarding normal growth and development, pediatric assessment skills, and pharmacology.
  • Must work a minimum of 40 hours, four days per week.
  • May at times work 4 days, 10‑hour shifts based on department needs and supervisor approval.
  • 1 evening per week for call coverage and 1 weekend worked per month.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, car available, and insurance coverage as required in Ohio.
  • Working coverage area may include: Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Ashtabula, Medina, Summit, Geauga, and Portage counties.
  • All attempts will be made to place PED Nurse in the service areas closer to the living residence.

Conditions Of Employment
