Job summary

Interim HealthCare is hiring a Pediatric Home Care Nurse (Registered Nurse) to provide compassionate in-home care for pediatric patients in Sioux Falls, SD. This role requires clinical expertise in pediatrics, tracheostomy and ventilator care, GJ tube feedings, and the ability to work with a non-speaking patient using assistive technology.

You will join a family-, women-, and veteran-owned organization offering flexible shifts, weekly pay at $40 per hour, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year pediatric nursing experience.
• Active RN license in SD.
• CPR certification.
• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care.
• Familiarity with GJ tube feedings and medication administration.
• Experience with pediatric respiratory care (nebulizers, cough assist).
• Ability to communicate with a non-speaking patient using assistive tech.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ventilator function and pulse oximeter readings during shift.
• Perform tracheostomy suctioning and routine care.
• Administer GJ tube feedings and prescribed medications.
• Operate cough assist equipment and provide respiratory treatments.
• Assist with hygiene, repositioning, and incontinence care.

About the Patient

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced pediatric nurse to provide specialized in‑home care for a 13‑year‑old boy living with Nemaline Myopathy, a condition that causes muscle weakness, and Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, which affects joint flexibility and positioning.

The patient is ventilator‑dependent via a tracheotomy and receives all nutrition and medications through a GJ tube. He uses an eye‑gaze communication device and a wheelchair for mobility. Due to severe osteoporosis and joint contractures, all care must be provided with an exceptionally gentle, attentive, and safety‑focused approach.

Job Responsibilities

As a pediatric home care nurse, responsibilities may include:

• Monitoring ventilator function and pulse oximeter readings throughout the shift
• Performing tracheostomy suctioning as needed
• Providing routine tracheostomy care and cleaning
• Administering GJ tube feedings and medications as prescribed
• Operating cough assist equipment to help manage respiratory secretions
• Administering respiratory treatments, including nebulizers and inhalers
• Assisting with hygiene routines, including showering, as applicable to the assigned shift
• Providing repositioning and incontinence care as needed
• Monitoring the patient’s condition and responding appropriately to changes
• Maintaining the patient’s comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the shift
• Communicating respectfully and effectively using the patient’s assistive communication technology

Qualifications

• At least one year of pediatric nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN in South Dakota, as applicable to the position
• Required experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care
• Familiarity with GJ tube feedings and medication administrationExperience with pediatric respiratory care, including nebulizers and cough assist equipment
• Ability to provide gentle, attentive care to a patient with complex medical and physical needs
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a non‑speaking individual using assistive technology
• Current CPR certification required; on-site CPR certification is available for qualified candidates
