Job summary

UT Health San Antonio seeks a medical director for pediatric heart failure, transplant and mechanical circulatory support to build a comprehensive program. The role focuses on patient care across heart failure, pre- and post-transplant and ECMO, and requires collaboration with transplant services and surgeons.

Education and research are strongly encouraged, with support from a dedicated stats/research team. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with training and experience.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of training in an accredited pediatric cardiology fellowship and pediatric heart failure fellowship or equivalent experience.
• Preference for candidates eligible to serve as an Organ Procurement and Transplant Network Primary Pediatric Heart Transplant Physician.
• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology.
• Texas medical licensure or eligible to practice in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a pediatric heart failure and heart transplant program.
• Provide care for heart failure, pre- and post-transplant and VAD patients, and all forms of mechanical circulatory support including ECMO.
• Collaborate with the University Health Transplant Institute and cardiothoracic surgeons.
• Engage in education and research with access to dedicated statistics and a research team.
