Job Summary
The Hand Therapist II provides direct patient and family centered care for patients from birth to 21 years of age who require specialized therapy for upper extremity injuries. The Hand Therapist is skilled in custom splint fabrication to meet the unique needs of this diverse pediatric population. Responsible for providing excellent direct patient care services including evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and communication with the medical team. Plans and provides patient, family, peer and community education and coordinates services with other healthcare professionals including the prescribing physician. Establishes dynamic treatment plans, supervises assistants/aides, directs case management, and participates in medical team conferences.Pay Range
Minimum $47.99 Midpoint $63.60 Maximum $79.20Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum two (2) years of direct patient experience managing pediatric hand conditions.
• Preferred: Experience working as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).
Education
• Required: Completion of a California accredited Occupational or Physical Therapy Program. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Training
• Required: None required.
Specialized Skills
• Required: Excellent written/oral communication skills and organization; intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office. Gives compassionate and caring services equally to all, regardless of race, beliefs, sex, economic status, age, or disability. Assists others in maintaining personal dignity by providing confidentiality, privacy, and respect.
• Preferred: Bilingual, Excellent presentation skills, Computer skills in Excel and Power Point.
Licensure
• Required: Occupational or Physical Therapist license – CA; Basic Life support (BLS).
• Preferred: Certified in Hand Therapy (CHT).
Work Environments - Functional Demand:
