The ideal candidate is board certified/eligible in pediatric gastroenterology. Qualified applicants may have opportunities for clinical leadership within our department and nutritional support programs, tailored to their areas of interest.
Our well-established, collegial, and nationally recognized team includes fifteen pediatric gastroenterologists and an NIH-funded researcher focused on nutrition and the gut microbiome. We care for pediatric and young adult patients with gastrointestinal disorders at our main tertiary/quaternary care hospital in Cleveland, providing consultation services for patients and colleagues at community-based hospitals and outpatient campuses, including satellite locations and family health centers.
We have disease-specific nurse care coordinators, ambulatory nurses, dietitians, and a supportive administrative team. We also collaborate closely with a GI psychologist and pediatric social workers. Our department includes five pediatric transplant hepatologists and a specialist in hepatobiliary disorders, including fatty liver disease. We operate an active liver transplant program, including living donor transplants, and programs for small bowel, multi-visceral, and pancreas transplants. Our primary nutritional programs focus on intestinal rehabilitation and nutritional support, supported by a multidisciplinary team.
Our clinical dietitians collaborate on patient care, education, and research initiatives. We also have multidisciplinary clinics for metabolic/glycogen storage diseases, IBD, eosinophilic esophagitis, aerodigestive care, neurogastrointestinal motility, and pancreaticobiliary diseases. Our Children’s Hospital features a state-of-the-art endoscopy suite and motility lab with high-resolution equipment, along with a dedicated infusion center.
In addition to clinical care, faculty members engage in research (clinical, basic science, and translational), quality and safety initiatives, and medical education. Cleveland Clinic's research infrastructure supports investigator-initiated and industry-funded projects, with funding from internal grants, corporate partners, and external agencies including NIH. Our fellowship program graduates two fellows annually. Academic appointments are available through Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Collaboration opportunities exist with researchers at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute and the Digestive Disease Surgery Institute.
