Job summary

The County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services, seeks a Physician Specialist in Pediatrics to perform pediatric initial medical evaluations for DCFS-involved children and to provide expert consultation on child abuse cases at Los Angeles County Medical Hub Clinics.

Applicants must hold American Board Certification in Pediatrics and a California Medical License. Availability for a fulltime position with varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Qualifications

• American Board Certification in Pediatrics.
• California Medical License (Physician and Surgeon's Certificate).
• Appropriate driver's license or ability to operate transportation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs pediatric initial medical evaluations for DCFS-involved children.
• Provides initial consultation regarding child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect with on-site support.
• Performs routine primary care and follow-up care for DCFS-involved children.
• Performs acute care visits for DCFS-involved children (low acuity issues).
• Develops new techniques within the medical specialty.
• Conducts specialized research and preventive/educational services.
• Performs non-acute forensic evaluations for children with suspected inflicted injury or neglect.
