Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Pediatric Emergency Department, full-time night shift. The RN will assess patients, develop care plans, administer medications, and coordinate with the care team to ensure safe, effective treatment.

Required NY RN licensure; BSN preferred with 1+ year acute care/Pediatric ED experience and certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CEN, CPEN or CCRN. Comprehensive benefits and a fast-paced, safety-focused environment await.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and at least one year of hospital acute care experience.
• Experience in Pediatric ED and/or acute care settings strongly favored.
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Licensure and certifications must be maintained as required.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/ Clinician.
• Maintain current plan of care and set patient/family education goals.
• Document education and patient responses in the medical record.
• Collaborate with staff and departments; participate in quality assurance activities.
