Salary: $188/hr

Position Overview:

  • Recruiting Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians to join a nationally recognized, environmentally advanced pediatric healthcare campus in Austin, TX.
  • This opportunity offers a dynamic clinical and academic environment within a robust and expanding emergency medicine program.
  • As the region's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center across a 46-county area, this facility provides comprehensive, high-acuity care in a state-of-the-art setting and features strong academic affiliations, growth opportunities, and a dedicated pediatric EM fellowship.


Responsibilities

Pediatric ED Volume: 59,000 annual visits

Pediatric ED Beds: 45

Admission Rate: 16%

Trauma Designation: Only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in the region

Shift Structure:

PEM Physicians: 8- and 9-hour shifts (56-81 hours of daily coverage)

Pediatricians/APPs: 8- and 12-hour shifts (20-28 hours of daily coverage)

EMR: Cerner with CPOE and PowerNote documentation

Academic Affiliation: Faculty appointment available through The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School

Staff:

  • 27 full-time PEM attendings
  • 12-13 pediatric EM fellows
  • Oversight of residents from pediatric, EM, family medicine, and transitional programs
  • Additional Highlights:
  • Faculty supported in academic pursuits including QI, advocacy, education, and research
  • RN team trained in PALS, ACLS, TNCC, Pediatric SANE, and more
  • Advanced simulation center
  • Expansion-ready facility with dedicated congenital heart, NICU, and fetal care services
  • Level III trauma services available at additional satellite campus


Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in: Emergency Medicine
  • Open to Residents and Fellows
  • Open to J-1 Visa Candidates
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Active unencumbered physician Texas state license
  • Graduate from a fully accredited MD or DO program
  • One year of work experience as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician
  • One year of EMR experience
  • APPs: BC PA or PNP-Acute Care/FNP with 2+ years of pediatric ED, critical care, or urgent care experience

  • A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
