Job description

Job Description

The Inova Children’s Heart Center at Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible Pediatric Electrophysiologist to join our nationally recognized and growing pediatric cardiology program in Northern Virginia. This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a comprehensive congenital heart program that provides advanced, multidisciplinary care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital heart disease throughout the Greater Washington region.

The Heart Center has provided exceptional pediatric cardiac care to Northern Virginia and the Greater Washington region for more than 30 years. The program performs approximately 550 cardiac procedures annually, including surgical repair of the most complex congenital heart defects, such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. It offers a seamless continuum of care from infancy through adulthood, including a dedicated Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program. The comprehensive team provides expertise across the full spectrum of congenital and pediatric heart care, including congenital cardiac surgery, outpatient and fetal cardiology, noninvasive imaging, adult congenital cardiology, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, electrophysiology, and advanced heart failure therapies.

The Electrophysiology (EP) Program is the largest pediatric and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) electrophysiology program in Northern Virginia, providing care for more than 2,500 patients. The EP team follows nearly 400 children with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter‑defibrillators (ICDs), as well as approximately 250 patients enrolled in our dedicated channelopathy program. The program performs 180–200 procedures annually, including electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, and device implantations. We utilize the latest advances in cardiac rhythm management, including conduction system pacing, leadless pacemakers, and subcutaneous ICD (S‑ICD) systems. All EP procedures are conducted in a state‑of‑the‑art biplane electrophysiology laboratory equipped with both CARTO™ and EnSite™ three‑dimensional mapping systems. A dedicated advanced practice provider specializing in pediatric electrophysiology oversees remote device monitoring and assists with Holter monitor interpretation. The program is further strengthened by three dedicated pediatric cardiovascular genetic counselors who support our comprehensive channelopathy clinic. Our cardiogenetics clinic is the largest of its kind in Northern Virginia and provides evaluation and management for children with inherited arrhythmia and cardiomyopathy syndromes, including long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC). Through a close partnership with the adult cardiac services at Inova Schar Heart and Vascular, the program offers seamless referral pathways for cascade genetic testing, family screening, and comprehensive evaluation of inherited cardiac conditions, ensuring coordinated care across the lifespan.
