Job summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking a healthcare professional to join the Emergency Department team in Milwaukee on a .25–.50 FTE basis. The role involves delivering life support, patient assessments, and documentation in Epic, while collaborating with physicians and nurses to ensure rapid, compassionate care for acutely ill or injured children.

You will gather vital signs, prepare treatment areas, and participate in education for patients and families, with weekend/holiday rotation and a 10-hour PM

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; EMT/AEMT/Paramedic training or Medical Assistant program completed.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced ED setting and maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Deliver basic and advanced life support care and patient assessments per protocols.
• Provide ongoing patient care and document in Epic.
• Gather patient information, vital signs, and prepare treatment areas.
• Continuously monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the care team.
• Initiate and assist with clinical interventions and diagnostics.
• Identify and stabilize acutely ill or injured patients with physicians and nurses.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Coordinate with nursing/providers on care, including meds, breathing support, IVs, and discharge education.
• Safely transport and transfer patients for testing, treatment, and admissions.
• Participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
