Job summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville seeks a Clinical Mentor to advance individualized, goal-directed nursing care in the ED. You will mentor staff using nursing process and primary nursing principles, serving as a real-time resource to promote patient safety and quality improvement.

The role requires a Tennessee RN license (or compact), current BLS and PALS, and pediatric ED experience; ACLS/TNCC/ENPC are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• RN licensure in TN or Compact required.
• BLS and PALS required; ACLS/TNCC/ENPC where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Mentors staff on individualized, goal-directed nursing care using the nursing process and primary nursing principles.
• Act as a real-time mentorship resource to support clinical growth, critical thinking, patient safety and quality improvement.
• Provide education and guidance on departmental protocols and procedures (ED standing orders, nitrous administration, conscious sedation, time-sensitive patient care).
• Collaborate with patients, families, and providers to ensure ethical and effective nursing practice.
• Help new staff develop clinical skills and competence and serve as a leader in the practice setting.
