Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System in Miami seeks an ED Lead APP/Educator to oversee education for ED advanced practice providers. You will coordinate competency, provide leadership, and support safe patient care while collaborating with the APP ED Supervisor.

You will lead orientation, develop education plans, and advance programs for new and experienced ED APPs, including students and fellows, with a focus on quality and best practices.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree of an approved program leading to eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Florida PA license in good standing throughout employment.
• NCCPA certification (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
• American Heart Association PALS certification in good standing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of ED APP experience.

Responsibilities

• Serves as an expert clinical resource and role model for APPs in the ED department.
• Prioritize organizational initiatives and goals with the ED APP Supervisor.
• Coordinate ED APP workflow and staffing for the assigned department.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality of care and decrease LOS.
• Educate staff on department policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance.
• Ensure credentialing, orientation, and training of ED APPs per policies.
• Evaluate clinical performance and support ongoing competence development.
• Provide real-time education for nursing and ancillary staff as needed.
• Lead New Provider Orientation integration with the APP ED Supervisor.
• Provide comprehensive patient care management at an advanced practice level for children and families.
• Organize and lead APP team meetings and project planning.
• Analyze practice gaps and plan competency assessments and maintenance.
• Lead Transition to Practice programs for newly hired ED APPs.
• Develop academic programs such as pediatric ED PA fellowships.
• Partner with Learning Services for APP student placement.
• Incorporate research and best practices into education planning.
• Identify and analyze practice gaps to guide education decisions.
