Position: Pediatric Dentist

You will provide care to patients as part of UPMC Children's pediatric primary and preventive dental care program.

Responsibilities:
  1. Examine patients requesting care, diagnose dental/oral conditions, and prescribe and perform appropriate treatments following clinical protocols and guidelines.
  2. Administer dental/oral treatments in both traditional clinic settings and procedures performed under anesthesia in outpatient surgical or procedure centers.
  3. Accurately document patient interactions, conditions, and treatments in dental records.
  4. Complete referrals, data collection, and other required documentation.
  5. Educate patients about oral health conditions and promote oral health and disease prevention.
  6. Discuss departmental issues, program status, initiatives, and progress with the Operations Manager of the Pediatric Dental Program.
  7. Supervise and educate pediatric dental residents and allied health professionals, including dental hygienists and assistants.
  8. Implement departmental policies, protocols, and procedures in line with current professional standards.
  9. Assist in community health education efforts as needed.
  10. Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and institutional rules, regulations, and protocols related to dental practice, safety, public health, and confidentiality.
  11. Perform duties in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
