Job summary

Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis is seeking a Dental Assistant for the Pediatric Dentistry department. The role involves preparing for procedures, chair-side assistance, infection control, and charting under supervision to support pediatric patient care.

The Foundational position requires a high school diploma or GED, with dental assistant training or 6 months of experience, and a radiology license within 6 months. The role offers a four-day, 32-hour work week.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of dental assisting training program; OR 6 months dental assisting experience.
  • Radiology license within 6 months from date of hire required.
  • Demonstrates strong technical aptitude and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient care including setting up instruments, supplies, and materials for procedures.
  • Sits chair-side to pass instruments and support direct patient care as indicated.
  • Complies with infection control by stripping, disinfecting, and bagging unit after care.
  • Enters findings and procedure information in patient chart as directed and ensures accuracy.
  • Requests instruments and supplies from other departments as directed by coordinator.
  • Inventories and restocks supplies and instruments.
