A day in the life of a Pediatric Dental Assistant

1. Expose digital diagnostic X-Rays
2. Record clinical findings and treatment information in patient records
3. Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
4. Clean teeth, using dental instruments including toothbrush and prophy cup
5. Apply fluoride varnish, sealants, and SDF
6. Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
7. Pour, trim, and polish study casts
8. Assist in consults and treatment of tongue and lip ties on infants and children
9. Assist chairside with nitrous while utilizing behavior guidance techniques
10. Assist chairside during IV sedation
11. Assist in the hospital for general anesthesia surgery cases
12. Maintain a daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule
13. Cement stainless steel crowns and space maintainers
14. Fill and finish restorations
