Job summary

OU Health's Pediatric Behavioral Health Center seeks an Expressive Therapist (Dance Movement Therapy) to provide specialized therapy for children and families, utilizing multiple modalities to address physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

The position requires a Master’s in Dance Movement Therapy with ADTA affiliation or an approved related field, plus BLS within 30 days of start. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and may participate in trainee supervision.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Dance Movement Therapy from an ADTA-approved program
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 30 days of start date
• Registered Dance Movement Therapist (R-DMT) or yoga certification/therapy preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritize patient needs through referrals and patient review process
• Identify interventions based on patient assessment matched to developmental, emotional, physical and social needs of patients and families
• Provide expressive therapy through multiple modalities to meet physical or psychological needs
• Inform and educate patients and families on expressive therapy techniques to support health coping and development
• Involve family members in expressive therapy services per assessment including teaching skills and resources for transition home
• Implement and document patient care plans; communicate plans and outcomes to others
• Provide expressive therapy programming to complement psychosocial and developmental needs of patients and families
• Provide individual and group sessions to fulfill therapeutic objectives (anxiety reduction, pain management, development, coping)
• Identify and educate appropriate expressive therapy resources for each patient and family
• Participate in interdisciplinary team planning and co-treating
• Monitor patient progress and adapt plan of care
• Incorporate expressive therapy in patient self-awareness, coping skills and social behavior
• Provide educational in-services for patients, families, and staff
• Support training and supervision of students and volunteers related to expressive therapy
