Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Genetics Laboratory Technician to perform routine and specialized tests in the Cytogenetics Lab.

You will prepare specimens, run chromosome analyses, and report results within required time frames to support quality patient care. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Genetics and meets regulatory requirements for moderate/high complexity testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Genetics, or related field.
• Meets regulatory requirements for moderate or high complexity testing.
• Must be able to discern red/green color.
• CG (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs cytogenetics assays and prepares specimens.
• Label and log samples in Sunquest system.
• Maintains cell cultures and slides for analysis.
• Performs karyotyping and FISH; analyzes and reports results.
• Ensures quality control and documents results.
