Job summary

Children’s Hospital Colorado seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality pediatric diagnostic imaging across modalities while delivering patient-centered care and maintaining safety standards. You will communicate with families and caregivers and support workflow within the South Campus CT Scan department.

The role requires ARRT credentials with CT certification, BLS, and at least three years of imaging experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Radiography program.
• Three years of imaging experience.
• ARRT(R) and ARRT(CT) certification; BLS.
• On-call as required depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Produces high quality imaging while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology utilizing proper diagnostic imaging protocols.
• Facilitates patient flow daily; to include management of STAT/urgent and high priority patients.
• Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
• Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others.
• Operates all imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment following safety procedures and protocols.
• Demonstrates and utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
• Competent in CT Physics, dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.
• Demonstrates and maintains competency and ability to use all aspects of Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) as it pertains to modality specific functions and use.
• Demonstrates initial and annual competency in IV placement and securement, vascular access devices and extravasation handling.
• In the event of an emergency will act as first responder and provide Basic Life Support (BLS) until help arrives.
• Verifies patient allergies and clinical indications prior to contrast administration. Safely administers contrast using the five rights. Ensures contrast is appropriately ordered and documented in patients’ medical record.
• Assists Provider with procedures as necessary (Maintaining technologist Scope of Practice). Follows established procedural guidelines; documents appropriate information as required; practices aseptic/sterile technique and standard precautions when necessary.
• Follows department policies, procedures, and protocols. Raises or addresses concerns regarding non-compliance or patient/staff safety.
• Follows established quality assurance/control (QA/QC) and safety programs to include The Joint Commission, American College of Radiology (ACR), and the State of Colorado.
• Promptly reports equipment malfunctions or errors and contacts respective service engineer or Biomed for repair.
• Maintains competency and registry in two or more Radiology disciplines. Works 20% of scheduled shifts in secondary disciplines.
