Job summary

WVU Medicine in Evansdale seeks a certified registered nurse anesthetist to provide pediatric anesthesia as part of the anesthesia care team with an anesthesiologist. You will cover preop through postoperative care, monitor patients continuously, and alert the attending anesthesiologist to critical events.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
• Current certification with NBCRNA.
• Active membership in AANA.

Responsibilities

• Provides anesthesia for pediatric patients as part of the anesthesia care team.
• Observe and monitor patient status from preop to postoperative care.
• Notify attending anesthesiologist of critical events or changes in status.
• Perform IV placement and airway management as required.
• Manage anesthesia care from induction through emergence and handoff.
• Administer fluids, blood, and blood products as indicated.
• Document data in the anesthesia record and verify equipment and supplies.
• Review informed consent, surgical site, and preop antibiotics during SBAR handoff.
• Participate in surgical pause and communicate with the perioperative team.
• Provide care in life-threatening emergencies in absence of an anesthesiologist.
• Participate in orientation/teaching of learners (SRNAs, residents, etc.).
• Manage controlled substances per policy and regulations.
• May work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
