Job summary

Duke University Health System seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for the Pediatric Special Procedures unit in Durham. The team handles children undergoing procedures with general anesthesia, including EGD, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, and LPs.

The role involves direct patient care, specimen collection, vitals, and clerical support to ensure smooth pre- and post-procedure workflows. CMA certification and BLS are required; Levels II–IV experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification by CMA/RMA/AMT/NCMA/ARMA is required.

Responsibilities

• Function as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care.
• Perform routine administrative and patient care duties to support examinations and procedures.
• Take medical histories, record vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assist with examinations, collect specimens, perform basic lab tests, and document care in the medical record.
• Coordinate scheduling, referrals, admissions, and laboratory services; maintain patient records.
