Job summary

IU Health in Indiana seeks a Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy for ketogenic diet management across infant, pediatric, and adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

You will develop and monitor individualized care plans, educate caregivers, and collaborate with Neurology and nursing teams. On-call and remote weekend coverage are required. A Master’s degree and RD licensure in Indiana are expected.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree is required or Bachelor's Degree prior to 2024.
• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
• Licensure through the state of Indiana must be obtained within 1 year of start date.
• Any clinical area billing for service may require CDR approval and Indiana state RD license prior to start date.
• Requires the ability to develop nutritional care plans and provide nutritional education.
• Requires the ability to demonstrate competency in nutrition focused physical exam and malnutrition documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical nutrition therapy for infant, pediatric, and adult patients on ketogenic diet in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Develop and manage individualized ketogenic diet plans, including formula selection and macronutrient ratios.
• Educate patients and caregivers on ketogenic therapy and enteral feeding techniques; ensure safety and long-term management.
• Conduct frequent follow-ups, document care, and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with Neurology, nursing, dietitians, and other professionals; on-call and remote weekend coverage required.

Description

Potential responsibilities in this job could include providing medical nutrition therapy for infant, pediatric, and adult patients requiring the ketogenic diet for epilepsy and other metabolic disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role focuses on development and ongoing management of individualized ketogenic diet oral and enteral feeding plans, including formula selection, macronutrient ratios, feeding schedules, and monitoring of growth, tolerance, labs, and metabolic parameters. The dietitian provides patient and caregiver education of ketogenic diet therapy and enteral feeding techniques, safety, and long-term management. Frequent patient follow-up and communication is an important component of quality care while managing the ketogenic diet, as well as accurate and detailed documentation. The dietitian collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including Neurology, nursing, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals across inpatient and outpatient settings. This position requires on-call capabilities and remote weekend coverage.
