Job summary

Southernmed is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to support pediatric patients and providers. You will escort patients, take vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and document in the EHR, ensuring smooth clinic flow.

The role requires strong communication, ability to work independently, and familiarity with EMR systems. Prior pediatric office experience is preferred; HIPAA compliance and patient safety come first.

Qualifications

• Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer applications; prior EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines, in a detail-oriented manner.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, and measure vital signs.
• Instruct patients about medications and special diets as instructed by the medical provider.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare them for examination.
• Assist the provider during patient exams and collect laboratory specimens.
