Job summary

Duke Family Medicine is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Cary clinic. The CMA will perform routine patient care and administrative tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality care for patients of all ages.

Open 8am–5pm, Monday through Friday, in a busy family medicine setting. Requirements include CMA certification and relevant licensure; BLS is also required.

Qualifications

• High school or GED graduation required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. BLS required.
• Level II: 1 year of clinical MA experience; Level III: 3 years of clinical MA experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones.
• Update and file patient medical records.
• Fill out insurance forms.
• Schedule appointments.
• Assist medical and nursing staff in examinations and procedures.
• Take medical histories and record vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Prepare patients for x-rays, tests and procedures.
• Take electrocardiograms.
