Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in sciences required for entrance in a CAAHEP accredited school of perfusion.
• Completion of a CHAAHEP accredited perfusion program.
• Certification/licensure/registration for American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion and Illinois licensure.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Operates extracorporeal circulation during cardiac surgery and informs team as needed.
• Maintains perfusion records and hospital billing data for procedures.
• Assists in perfusion-related research and evaluates new equipment.
• On-call availability and on-going education are part of the role.
• Mentors student perfusionists and documents performance.
