Qualifications

  • Requires MD/DO degree, board certified in Pediatrics.
  • Board eligibility/certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine is needed.
  • Ability to obtain an active medical license in Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
  • Manage care for all medical, cardiothoracic surgery, and ECMO patients.
  • Participate in academic education for medical students and residents.

Job description

Join a well-established team of 13 pediatric intensivists and 16 advanced practice providers who provide services in the Hospital's, 23 bed, multidisciplinary, PICU.The PICU is expanding and being relocated to a new, redesigned space in the fall of 2025. The hospital will also be adding a dedicated 9 bed cardiac unit featuring an acuity adaptable patient care model.

Akron Children's PICU has more than 1800 annual admissions, providing care for all medical, cardiothoracic surgery, and other surgical subspecialty and ECMO patients. The Hospital is a level 1 trauma center, and the intensivists serve as the medical control physician for a large regional transport service.

This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
