Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist I to provide care and safety for children and adolescents within a therapeutic milieu. You will input into daily schedules, observe and document care, and support the treatment team under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

The role emphasizes crisis de-escalation, teamwork, and involvement in milieu care planning, with opportunities to co-lead groups and participate in family engagement. Evening, part-time shifts are possible.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service field preferred.
• Six months to one year of direct childcare work with emotionally impaired youth.
• Ability to work independently and in crisis situations while following program policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and document observations.
• Assist with milieu care planning and daily living activities.
• Document shift notes and communicate observations to RN and treatment team.
• Contribute to treatment planning and family engagement during rounds and handoffs.
• Co-lead community meetings and recreation/therapy groups.
• Respond to crises with appropriate, least-restrictive interventions.
