Job summary

Midwest Behavioral Health Center seeks an experienced Clinical Manager to lead our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) and Mental Health Behavioral Stabilization (MHBS) programs. You will supervise the clinical team, oversee treatment planning and documentation, and collaborate with nursing and medical leadership to deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based care for children and adolescents.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a clinical discipline.
  • Active Michigan LMSW/LLP/LPC/LMFT/APN credential with licensure supervision.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of behavioral healthcare experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of substance use disorder treatment experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical leadership experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, documentation, and case-consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, coach, and develop clinical professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral-health treatment, patient safety, trauma-informed care, and clinical best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced treatment environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required behavioral-management, crisis-prevention, and de-escalation certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, leadership, mentoring, and support to assigned clinical staff.
  • Conduct clinical supervision and support eligible clinicians working toward independent licensure.
  • Establish performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, complete evaluations, and address performance concerns when necessary.
  • Identify professional-development needs and provide ongoing training, education, consultation, and individualized support.
  • Help identify and develop emerging clinical leaders.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, engagement, and retention of clinical staff.
  • Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, respect, and high-quality patient care.
  • Oversee assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, coordination of care, and discharge planning within assigned programs.
  • Ensure treatment is individualized, trauma-informed, and aligned with patient needs.
  • Monitor clinical progress and help treatment teams respond when patients are not progressing as expected.
  • Provide consultation and direction during complex cases, behavioral emergencies, and other high-risk clinical situations.
  • Promote safe clinical practices and support effective de-escalation and crisis-intervention approaches.
  • Participate directly in assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, coordination of care, and other clinical responsibilities when needed.
  • Advocate for patients and help ensure appropriate access to services and resources.
  • Work closely with psychiatry, nursing, case management, Behavioral Health Technicians, medical providers, education staff, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment discussions, case reviews, and clinical planning.
  • Ensure clinical recommendations are communicated clearly and translated into consistent treatment across disciplines.
  • Partner with program and organizational leadership on patient safety, quality, staffing, workflow, and operational priorities.
  • Support continuity of care throughout admission, treatment, discharge, and transition to the next level of care.
  • Help develop and maintain clinical programming and curriculum for PRTF and MHBS programs.
  • Support implementation of evidence-based and emerging behavioral-health treatment models.
  • Evaluate clinical workflows and identify opportunities to strengthen quality, efficiency, safety, and patient outcomes.
  • Help create clinical systems, expectations, and culture of growing programs.
  • Monitor program and department goals, clinical metrics, and KPIs.
  • Promote a culture of safety, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
