Job summary

Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah in Shenandoah, Texas, is seeking a Behavioral Crisis Technician to help maintain a safe inpatient environment for pediatric patients. You will work with nurses, therapists, and clinical staff to monitor behavior, support interventions, and respond to safety concerns.

The role requires calm under pressure, quick crisis response, and effective teamwork. Candidates with experience in behavioral health, EMS, or crisis response are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; EMT/Paramedic certifications preferred.
• Experience in inpatient behavioral health or crisis response is valued.
• Strong collaboration with nurses and therapists.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
• Ability to respond quickly and stay calm under pressure.
• Experience with de-escalation techniques and safety interventions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible safety presence on assigned patient units.
• Monitor patient behavior and identify early signs of escalation.
• Assist nursing and clinical staff with behavioral interventions and safety measures.
• Participate in behavioral response calls when patient safety concerns arise.
• Provide direct patient observation when assigned.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure privacy and security of confidential health information per HIPAA.
• Assist with patient mobility and transitions as directed by staff.
