Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine's Renaissance School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, seeks a Physician/Pediatric Anesthesiologist to provide perioperative care for children and to consult before and after anesthesia. The role includes active teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and CRNAs, with an emphasis on scholarly activity.

This is an exempt, tenure/non-tenure track position, commensurate with experience, with strong encouragement for clinical or basic research

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree. Board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesia.
• Completed, or currently attending, an ACGME accredited Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthetic care to pediatric patients undergoing surgery or procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-anesthetic consultations.
• Engage in instruction and/or supervision of medical students, residents, and CRNAs.
• Active involvement in clinical and/or basic research is encouraged.

Job description

The Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, Department of Anesthesiology, is recruiting for a Physician/Pediatric Anesthesiologist. The candidate will provide anesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery or other procedures, and will provide consultation before and after the anesthetic procedure. The candidate will be actively engaged in the instruction and/or supervision of medical students, resident physicians, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. An active role in clinical and/or basic research will be strongly encouraged.

Required Qualifications

MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree. Board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology & Pediatric Anesthesia. Completed, or currently attending, an ACGME accredited Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia. Candidates must hold licensure, or, be eligible for licensure as a Physician in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications

Interest and Skilled in the provision of regional analgesia to infants and neonates. Interest in pursuit of clinical research.

Faculty Appointment Eligibility

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
