Job description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Anesthesiology, is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-eligible or board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist to join our Division of Pediatric Anesthesia at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. We are looking for a team player who enjoys teaching residents and fellows, who is drawn to mission-oriented medicine, and who wants to practice in a collegial environment where the people beside you are the best part of the job.

The Practice

Our pediatric anesthesiologists care for children at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The hospital is a Level IV NICU referral center for the Inland Empire, and the patient population is correspondingly complex: premature and critically ill neonates, children with congenital anomalies and chronic disease, and patients referred from across the region for care not available closer to home. Care is provided to a diverse, often underserved population of children who may be healthy or medical complex. The case mix spans neonatal and general pediatric surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT, urology, craniofacial and plastic surgery, and a high volume of non-operating-room anesthesia in radiology, oncology, and procedural suites. Loma Linda is also home to an established congenital heart disease program, and pediatric anesthesiologists with the appropriate training and interest may participate in pediatric cardiac cases. Supervision of residents and CRNAs is typically 1:1 or 1:2.

Our pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatric surgeons, neonatologists, intensivists, and nurses are a close-knit team that plans cases together, reviews outcomes together, and enjoys one another’s company. New faculty are mentored by experienced colleagues, and department leadership is accessible and values faculty input. We are looking for physicians who will do the same: relieve a colleague at the end of a long day, offer a second set of hands when a case does not proceed as anticipated, and take on the unassigned case without being asked.

Teaching

Our residents are the reason many of us chose academic practice. Pediatric faculty supervise residents on their pediatric rotations, as well as our ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellows. The strength of that clinical training shows in our graduates, who are sought after by private practices and academic departments alike. Advancement

Loma Linda University Health is an academic health system with an anesthesiology residency; fellowship programs in cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, acute pain and regional anesthesiology, liver transplant, and critical care; and an active clinical research program. Pediatric faculty advance along a defined academic track with support for promotion, and leadership roles are available in division leadership, fellowship education, pediatric cardiac anesthesia, quality and outcomes, and clinical research.

Compensation

Expected total annual compensation is $462,000 – $562,000. Starting base compensation of $450,000 – $520,000 is adjusted for years of experience and faculty rank; total compensation above base reflects variable and productivity-based pay under the department compensation plan. Faculty who want to work more can earn more through incentivized clinical work, additional shifts, and call. Details are discussed with the department during the recruitment process.
