Position Overview

The Department of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship‑trained pediatric surgeon to join our team as Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery. The candidate will work with five other surgeons in a busy academic practice at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH), a 242‑bed children’s hospital supporting an ACGME‑approved pediatric surgery fellowship program.

LLUCH is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with a 26‑bed emergency room, an 84‑bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 25‑bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a large oncology patient volume, numerous index cases, and full sub‑specialty support. Approximately 1.2 million children reside within our referral base, one‑quarter of California, making it a rapidly growing region.

The applicant must have a commitment to research and education and will work closely with medical students, surgical residents, and fellows. The Division oversees a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program and a Pediatric Surgery Clinical Research Scholar Program for research residents. We maintain a funded basic science laboratory focused on necrotizing enterocolitis and related neonatal conditions and welcome investigators with similar interests. In addition, a fetal surgery center is expected to open this fall.

All surgeons in the group enjoy a busy clinical practice emphasizing advanced minimally invasive neonatal and pediatric procedures and robotic surgery. As a Level 1 trauma center, we cover all pediatric trauma and serve as an EMCO center of excellence.

Faculty with an interest in global surgery may participate in the division’s robust global surgery initiatives, including activities of the Global Pediatric Specialist Alliance and the Loma Linda University Health Center for Global Surgery.
