Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 8 Pediatrics unit. This 28-bed acute care pediatric unit serves patients aged 0–12 with a commitment to family-centered, high-quality care and strong teamwork.

You will lead daily unit operations, coordinate staffing by acuity, serve as a clinical resource, and mentor staff while promoting safety and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN license in the state where you practice.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association).
• 4–5 years pediatric inpatient experience preferred.
• Leadership experience as Charge Nurse, Clinical Lead or similar preferred.
• Experience coordinating patient flow and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to mentor and coach staff with a safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily unit operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Make staffing and patient assignments based on acuity, staff competency and workflow.
• Serve as clinical resource and first escalation point for staff, patients, and providers.
• Support patient flow by coordinating admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Promote patient safety, quality outcomes and regulatory compliance.
• Coach, mentor and support frontline staff while fostering a positive team culture.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and care coordination.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues with situational awareness across the unit.
• Assist with orientation, education, performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
