Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Hematologist/Oncologist to join its clinical faculty. We are seeking a BC/BE hematologist/oncologist to serve as a clinical faculty member at the assistant/associate professor level. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality improvement/clinical research, an interest in medical education, and a clinical focus on benign hematology, particularly coagulation and hemoglobinopathies. Our hospital is a teaching institution with an AGMCE-accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship program and a medical school partnership with Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Our programs at the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders include hematology, oncology, stem cell and marrow transplantation, a state-funded sickle cell program, and a regional hemostasis and thrombosis center. Care is provided at our main hospital in Akron, the Beeghly campus in Boardman, Ohio, and through a monthly outreach clinic in the Amish Community. The team comprises 10 faculty members, 17 advanced practice providers, and a dedicated team of nurses and support staff.
Annually, we care for approximately 95 new oncology patients, 15 stem cell/marrow transplant patients, 160 sickle cell patients, and 540 patients with bleeding disorders, totaling around 12,000 patient encounters. Akron Children's Hospital is a member of the Children's Oncology Group, houses a pediatric stem cell transplantation center approved by the National Marrow Donor Program, and is one of only 9 pediatric cancer centers in the country verified by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
