Ped Cardiac Sonographer - Oklahoma Children's Hospital- PRN

Job Description:

General Description:

Under supervision and guidance of a mentor/preceptor, this entry-level position aims to develop competencies in delivering cardiovascular and radiologic services to pediatric and adult patients, supporting diagnosis, care, and treatment of various conditions.

Essential Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities essential for the role. Failure to perform these may disqualify candidates.

  • Provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care using available resources across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and outreach clinics.

  • Prepare patients for procedures, correlating clinical history with physician-ordered procedures.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members to achieve desired clinical and operational outcomes.

  • Utilize specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic, interventional, or surgical procedures following scope of practice guidelines.

  • Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure completion, documentation, and quality standards are met.

  • Transfer images/data to archives, document findings, and prepare studies for physician review.

  • Perform quality control, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance per manufacturer and regulatory standards.

  • Engage in continuing education and professional development to maintain and enhance skills.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program specializing in cardiovascular or radiologic technology. Candidates within 6 weeks of graduation may be considered.

Experience: 0-3 years related experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS certification from AHA required; RDCS Adult Echo (AE) credential must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of cardiovascular/radiologic principles, medical imaging, terminology, patient positioning, and ethics. Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and maintain confidentiality. Skills in record-keeping, analysis, multi-tasking, and calmness in stressful situations. Good communication skills and professionalism are essential.
