Job summary

Odessa College is seeking a reliable custodian to maintain a clean and safe environment across offices, classrooms, labs, restrooms and lounge areas at the Odessa campus. The role requires physical endurance and the ability to follow a consistent cleaning routine to meet sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, offices, classrooms; vacuuming; trash removal; cleaning glass surfaces; floor care; daily lounge upkeep; furniture dusting; reporting vermin signs; and on-site

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking).
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Disinfect, sanitize, and restock restrooms.
• Disinfect and clean office areas, classrooms, and student spaces.
• Vacuum all classrooms, office spaces, and other designated areas.
• Remove trash and recycling from all areas of the building.
• Clean glass surfaces in public areas, including windows and entrance doors.
• Sweep and mop all hard-surface flooring.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the lounge daily, including washing dishes and cleaning the refrigerator and microwave.
• Dust all furniture using appropriate cleaning supplies.
• Notify staff of any signs of rodents or vermin so that appropriate action can be taken.
• Conduct regular maintenance of all floors and carpets, including shampooing and waxing as needed.
• Assist with the daily upkeep of the building’s exterior to ensure the facility remains clean and presentable at all times.
