Job summary

Little River Band of Ottawa Indians is seeking a Peacemaking Coordinator (Part-Time) in Manistee, MI. The role oversees growth, promotion, and daily operations of the Peacemaking program with a focus on independent work and adherence to tribal laws.

The incumbent must have an associate’s degree or equivalent experience and strong MS Office skills. The position offers a part-time, non-exempt schedule with bi-weekly pay; Indian Preference applies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 5+ years in a related field (education and experience may substitute).
• Technical skills: MS Office, case management databases, computers, office equipment.
• Understanding of the Tribal Court system and Tribal laws.
• Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and traditions.
• Ability to work independently under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and train Peacemakers.
• Promote the Peacemaking program through articles, meetings, and tribal functions.
• Conduct Peacemaking sessions or appoint Peacemakers with Chief Judge consent and monitor progress.
• Assist in development of Peacemaking contracts and monitor progress.
• Monitor Peacemakers and participate in juvenile delinquency matters as part of the Case Intake Team.
