Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a part-time Title I Assistant to support the physical education program and assist students with learning activities. You will help the PE teacher set up equipment, monitor behavior, and maintain student records to ensure a productive class environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with 48 college credits or an equivalent credential preferred; experience with children is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• For Title I Assistants: minimum 48 college credits or passing Paraprofessional Assessment, or an Associate's Degree or higher.
• Some experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the PE teacher with instructional activities and reinforce material through repetition.
• Establish and maintain student behavior standards.
• Create a learning environment appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Maintain individual records for each student.
