The Waldinger Corporation in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Project Engineer – Construction to join our office team. You will contribute to planning, coordination, and execution of building systems projects with mentorship from project managers and collaboration with managers, engineers, and field crews.

The role is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys problem solving both in the office and on site, and who thrives in a hands‑on environment that supports growth and learning.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of construction, engineering, or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and storms.
• Ability to travel moderately.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project planning and coordination, build and follow project plans and schedules, submit RFIs and manage documentation, coordinate activities and resources to deliver on time.
• Provide engineering support through technical calculations and analyses on construction materials, methods, and specs; review drawings, blueprints and specs for accuracy; support field personnel.
• Monitor workmanship and materials against project specs; conduct inspections and quality audits; document issues with corrective actions.
• Help track project costs against budget, including labor, materials, and equipment; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Communicate with team members, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders; resolve issues through negotiation and problem-solving.
• Build relationships through client events, industry conferences, local associations, and mentorship from Project Managers.

This role suits an early-career engineer who wants hands‑on experience across the full life of a construction project. If you enjoy problem‑solving in the office and on the jobsite, working alongside managers, engineers, and field crews, and growing with Project Manager mentorship, you’ll fit right in.

What You’ll Own

• Project Planning & Coordination: Help build and carry out project plans and schedules, submit RFIs and manage documentation, and coordinate activities and resources so deliverables land on time.
