Job summary

DPR Construction in Austin, Texas is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations across the design lifecycle under close supervision. You will design HVAC distribution, piping layouts, and equipment selections, review RFIs, submittals, and participate in site visits while using CAD and 3D modeling to produce coordinated solutions.

A Bachelor's in mechanical engineering and 4+ years' experience are required, with PE license preferred; DPR values

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience required.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• NCEES record for licensure maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in producing mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations from conceptual design through construction documents under close supervision.
• Supports development of mechanical system designs, including HVAC distribution and piping layouts, using applicable codes and standards.
• Performs mechanical engineering calculations such as airflow, heating/cooling loads, pipe sizing, and pressure loss with guidance from senior engineers.
• Demonstrates strong record keeping while supporting construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings and RFIs, and participation in site visits.
• Utilizes CAD and modeling software to create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models.
• Participates in internal and external coordination meetings to communicate progress and resolve design issues.
• Engages in professional development by identifying training needs and seeking knowledge for technical and process improvements.
