Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate for PE Advisory & Consulting, with locations in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York. The role spans financial, operational, and strategic workstreams within a fast-paced consulting environment.

You will partner with senior leaders to address due diligence, value creation, transformation, restructuring, and M&A-related processes, building advanced financial models and dashboards while mentoring junior teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a competitive undergraduate program.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, or New York.
• Hybrid in-office schedule (4 days/week) with travel to client sites as needed.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in investment banking or private equity.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain financial models, KPI dashboards, and complex analytical work.
• Strong communication skills and executive presence.
• Demonstrated success operating within lean, fast-moving teams.
• High attention to detail, responsiveness, and an ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders on due diligence, value creation, transformation, restructuring, and M&A processes.
• Analyze financial statements and KPIs to guide decisions.
• Build financial models (three-statement forecasts, DCF, LBOs) and value creation tools.
• Support workstreams like liquidity analyses, vendor reviews, KPI development, and org design.
• Create dashboards and investor/board materials.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to training, methods, and best practices.
• Assist with business development and client relationships.
• Support talent acquisition and firm-building activities.
