Location: Clifton (CLF), 1135 Broad St Suite 215, Clifton, NJ 07013

Along with other core team members, the Early Intervention Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) screens, evaluates, provides ongoing assessment, and assists in developing an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each child. The SLP provides direct services to children eligible for early intervention services with delays in physical, cognitive, communication, social, and adaptive development. The SLP also instructs parents and caregivers by modeling strategies to incorporate into family routines, discusses progress and challenges, and prepares transition/discharge plans.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • NJ Licensed Speech Language Pathologist
  • Valid NJ driver's license and required insurance
  • At least 2 years experience working with young children with disabilities
  • Targeted Evaluation (TET) team members require 2 years pediatric experience evaluating children ages 0-5
  • Strong understanding of normal child development
  • Knowledge of early intervention benefits for children with developmental delays
  • Basic principles of behavior management
  • Ability to integrate early childhood educational and intervention techniques into family routines

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Licensed Speech Language Pathologist
  • NJ Driver's License
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem - Evenings
Essential Functions:
  • Conducts developmental evaluations in natural environments to identify strengths and needs
  • Communicates effectively with families and team members in oral and written formats
  • Supports family interactions with their children in daily routines
  • Provides strategies with measurable and functional outcomes as part of the IFSP
  • Recommends ongoing services based on family concerns, outcomes, and routines
  • Uses NJ Birth to Three Early Learning Standards for developmentally appropriate expectations
  • Utilizes discipline-specific tools and checklists for child assessments, detailing strategies exclusive to licensed SLPs versus those suitable for other team members
  • Addresses IFSP outcomes with appropriate activities and intervention models, including evidence-based strategies
  • Evaluates intervention effectiveness to meet family outcomes
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to NJEIS Code of Conduct
  • Completes session notes and records data as per departmental policies
  • Seeks supervision and actively participates in performance reviews and feedback
  • Contributes to training others in EI philosophy and intervention models
  • Communicates concerns and participates in solution development
  • Attends trainings, staff meetings, and conference calls
  • Travels using personal vehicle to family environments
  • Records service times accurately for billing and submits paperwork timely
  • Maintains communication with the office via email, text, and phone
