Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a PD RN for the Radiation Oncology department at the New Brunswick campus. The nurse will work day shifts, per diem, coordinating with the office to prepare ARIA data and collaborate with physicians to ensure orders are completed according to department policy.

Required BSN, 2 years oncology nursing experience and 1 year radiation oncology experience. NJ RN license and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year radiation oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within RN scope for Radiation Oncology patients.
• Coordinate with office staff to obtain and verify clinical information in ARIA prior to consults and follow-up visits.
• Ensure orders are written, carried out, and signed off per RWJ Hospital policies.
• Maintain safety and adherence to evidence-based practice and professional standards.
• Supervise and direct delegation of tasks to team members and collaborate with other care providers.
• Set priorities and implement interventions with measurable outcomes.
• Utilize nursing process to individualize care and address patient needs.

Job Overview:

RWJBH is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Radiation Oncology Department at the New Brunswick campus.

Works with the office coordinator to ensure that all relevant clinical information is obtained, reviewed and available in Radiation Oncology ARIA prior to the consult and follow up visit.

Works with physician to ensure follow up orders are written and carried out proactively and ensures all orders are completed and signed off according to RWJ Hospital and Department of Radiation Oncology Policy.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• 2 years of oncology nursing experience
• 1 year radiation oncology experience

Preferred:

• Knowledge of EMR and workflows in the ambulatory setting a plus,
• OCN or MUST be obtained within 2 years of hire date
• ACLS and PALS or MUST be obtained within 2 years of hire date

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• BLS
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day Shift
• Monday - Friday weekends & holidays
• Per Diem

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs.
