Job Overview

The Dispatcher-EMT is responsible for answering 9-1-1 telephone calls and other hotline calls, screening incidents according to the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) ProQA system, and dispatching the appropriate resources.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Operate a Computer Aided Dispatch system, radio communications, and telephone to relay information to units in the field and update their status.
• Ensure the safety of all personnel while providing timely, accurate dispatch information.
• Maintain superior communication and customer‑service skills while handling high‑pressure situations.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Graduate or GED
• Minimum age 18 years
• Valid Driver's License
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification
• APCO BTC or State‑approved equivalent Certification
• IAED Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification
• Hazmat Material Awareness Training Certification
• Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness Training Certification
• ICS‑100, 200 and NIMS 700, 800 Certification

Preferred

• PHTLS/ITLS certification
• 1‑3 years of prior dispatch experience related to firefighting/EMS
