Job summary

J Arthur Dosher memorial hospital is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support registered nurses in the Patient Care Unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, prep patients for treatments, and help with care planning and coordination with the nursing team.

The role emphasizes teamwork, timely communication, adherence to facility policies, and ongoing certification maintenance such as CNA licensure and BLS. Prior acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience as nurse aide/technician in acute care/hospital setting preferred.
• Current/unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of North Carolina preferred.
• BLS Certified.

• Keep all required education/certifications up to date.
• Demonstrate teamwork, peer-to-peer accountability, independent problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and appropriate clinical prioritization.
• Document and practice according to facility policy, meeting current documentation standards, metric, and quality expectations as detailed by department manager in the delivery of quality care.
• Elevate concerns to charge nurse or nurse manager as appropriate, reporting problems through the chain of command.

Description

Responsible for assisting registered nurses in the care of all patients in the Patient Care Unit. He/She performs or assists in the completion of all activities of daily living for patients, prepares patients for treatments, diagnostic procedures, and assists interdisciplinary health care providers as needed. He/She also assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties. He/She anticipates discharge needs of patients and communicates with the primary nurse and the charge nurse in a timely and appropriate way. He/She ensures safe and efficient care of all patients, performs tasks in a timely manner, and performs in line with the mission and vision of the facility. He/She demonstrates ethical and appropriate behavior, adherence to all policies and procedures, and maintains all educational requirements of the position.

Requirements

Education:

• High school graduate or equivalent


• Experience as a nurse aide or technician in acute care/hospital setting preferred
