Job summary

AdventHealth Sebring in Florida is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support admissions, assist with daily living, and help ensure a safe, compassionate patient environment. You will welcome patients, orient them to rooms, and coordinate with the care team to meet needs.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs and I&O, transferring patients with assistance, documenting in the EMR, and maintaining clean, safe surroundings. CNA or CPCT/A certification preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• Mature judgment and ability to handle confidential information within healthcare regulations.
• Ability to communicate verbally in English and in writing with diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to learn and apply computer-based medical records and terminology.

Job Description:

• Prepares rooms for new admissions, including setting up personal care items and vital sign equipment.

• Welcomes new admissions and orients patients to their rooms.

• Transfers patients between beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs with assistance from other personnel.

• Ensures patient and personal safety by following proper lifting and transporting techniques.

• Documents personal care, intake and output, vital signs, and weights according to policy.

• Collects and labels patient specimens at bedside and sends them to the lab for analysis.

• Reports changes in patient status to appropriate personnel in prompt manner.

• Serves as a liaison between patients, families, staff, and medical personnel.

• Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and unit census.

• Responds to patient call lights and address their needs according to skill level.

• Maintains a clean, comfortable, and safe patient environment.

• Assists patients with activities of daily living as ordered by the physician.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:

• 1+ year experience [Preferred]

• 2+ years lead EKG experience (Emergency Department only) [Preferred]

• CNA Experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

• NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]

• NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program [Preferred]

• Certified Health Unit Coordinator (CHUC)[Preferred]
