Description

Compensation :
Pay Range: $15.50- $19.50 / hour

Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supportswork/life balanceand offersself-schedulingfor the shifts on this unit:
- Full-Time AM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
- Full-Time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week
- Full-Time Weekend AM and PM
- Part-Time Weekend AM and PM
- Flexi/PRN

Unit Details :
The Neurology and Seizure Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a 25-bed acute care unit providing specialized care to patients with neuro disorders, including epilepsy, central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma, myasthenia gravis (MG), Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), and multiple sclerosis (MS). UAB Medicine is home to Alabama’s onlyLevel IV Epilepsy Center , the highest designation available from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Nurses on this unit have an opportunity to work with a comprehensive range of advanced technology and the latest treatments. They are active members of an interdisciplinary care team, working alongside neurologists and neurosurgeons with expertise in all types of epilepsy. In addition, UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs of its kind nationally by U.S. News & World Report, which also has ranked UAB’s program as No. 1 in Alabama.

To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital. To obtain and record vitals, weight, inputs and outputs. To successfully complete an in-house PCT training program. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. Depending on the unit/department or if the position works directly with patients, Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required or required to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
